Celebrity Cruises "Infinity" Alaska Inside Passage Cruise

August 29, 2003

This was our second trip to Alaska.  We had nice weather for departure, and in Ketchican but the other ports were quite rainy.  For more Alaska port and glacier photos be sure to also see my pictorial on Sun Princess, Alaska 2004 and Galaxy Alaska 1998

This was the "Inside Passage" Cruise.  A return trip from Vancouver, stopping at Juneau, Skagway and Ketchican.  We really wanted to see the Millenium class of Celebrity's Cruises, and its a quick jaunt from Seattle to meet up with the ship.  This was a nice end of summer getaway for us.  I had been on the Radiance of the Seas a few times, and on the Celebrity's Century class and expected this to be a blend of the two.  I was very pleased to find out that the Infinity was truly Celebrity in feel, but had the beauty and spaciousness of the Radiance which I enjoyed so much.  The hull is identical to the Radiance but the colours and facilities were definitely Celebrity.  I may have found my new favourite ship :)  I also noticed many colours, design, and cosmetic touches reminded me of each of the other Celebrity ships we've been on, this is one of the reasons I think when we board a Celebrity cruise ship that we feel so comfortable and "at home" so easily, no matter where in the world we meet up with their ships.

We stayed overnight at the Hyatt in downtown Vancouver the evening prior to embarking Infinity.  This was our view from the hotel, we were right in the core only a few blocks from The Bay for shopping, and a Tim Horton's for morning donuts and coffee adjacent to the hotel.

Sunshine galore for sailaway day!  Here's the main pool area on Infinity.

We left from Canada Place, the Summit was beside us..  As we leave the harbour there is the lovely view of the Lion's Gate Bridge as we pass beneath it.

As we leave, we see the Vancouver skyline and the Summit at Canada Place.

Gotta have a fruity drink and dance while the band plays at Sailaway!

I have a new t-shirt on that I bought at the Soho Coho Shop in Ketchican.  I really enjoy the artwork of Ray Troll, this time we actually got to meet him in the shop!  The store is up on scenic Creek Street.  At least if I want another shirt or picture by Ray Troll I can go to his website as well at http://www.TROLLART.com

Time for some fine Celebrity Pizza

I'm bundled up on a cool rainy day at Hubbard Glacier

It seems that when it is overcast, the blue ice really stands out.

We had a beautiful sunny day in Ketchican!

Last formal night, time for the Baked Alaska Parade!
