San Diego Return to Hawaii

Honolulu and the island of Oahu

Once we arrived in Honolulu, we took The Bus into Wakiki to pick up our car rental to head out on our drive across the island.

Just as we left the urban areas, we found lovely coves and beaches along the way.  There were many places to pull off the highway to view the sights.

We drove along the east shore of the island, stopping to view the sights along the way to the north shore and Sunset Beach.  After taking some photos we changed to swim suits and played in the waves by the shore, what a kick!

We drove back from the North Shore by an inland route which was a quick return route to Honolulu.  I browsed the shops at Aloha Towers where the ship was docked as Stephen returned the car.  We had an 11pm departure.  Tomorrow is a day at sea before we visit the Big Island and Maui.

During the day we sailed by Maui and some other islands, we had a Captain's Club event in the Constellation Lounge.

The highlight of the day was our second dinner at the United States Restaurant on Infinity.

The United States Specialty Restaurant

There is a viewing kitchen and you can watch preparation by the chefs.  They were making a chocolate model of the SS United States for display.

The Goat Cheese Soufflé is as wonderful as it looks.  I had it each of our 3 visits to the SS United States dining room.

A cheese course is presented after the appetizer and pre-appetizers :)

I enjoyed the apple slices with the cheeses, and some walnuts.

Yum !

Our main dishes were prepared table side.

This was a formal night, so there was a special desert, a Grand Marnier Soufflé .. heavenly!

I ordered an Iced Coffee, usually in the dining room its just  a glass of coffee with ice .. in the United States it arrived with whipped cream, and a cherry!
