Mercury

October 10, 2001 - October 21, 2001
Honolulu, Hawaii - Ensenada, Mexico

Introduction
This was a wonderful cruise. It had 3 parts, really. First, our land trip
on the Big Island for a few days prior to boarding Mercury in Oahu. Second, Cruising the
Hawaiian Islands on Mercury, and third, the crossing of the Pacific Ocean back to the
mainland.
This cruise was chosen for a few reasons .. never been to Hawaii before and thought it
would be a romantic place to celebrate our 10th anniversary. We hadn't been on the
Mercury since its inaugural, and the dates worked out well considering vacation time and
number of days prior to the cruise we could spend on the islands.
Stephen and I were most interested in the sights on the Big Island of Hawaii - there
was way too much there to see to do in just 2 port days. So we chose 4 days prior in
Hilo then a night before sailing on Oahu so we could be rested and conveniently close to
the port to board Mercury the next day.
